Present GURU Till ETERNITY- In Brief

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji – Present GURU Till ETERNITY

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the Holy Scripture of Sikhism. It is a voluminous text of 1430 Angs, compiled and composed during the period of the Sikh Gurus from 1469 – 1708. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was assigned Gurgaddi by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji before his departure from the World in 1708.
To prevent the spurious compositions creeping in & to consolidate the Baani of Previous GURUS, Sri Guru Arjan Sahib Ji started compilation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (Adi Granth) in 1601 & completed the task in 1604. The Adi Granth was written by Bhai Gurdas Ji. The Adi Granth was re-compiled by Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji in 1704 at Sabo-Ki-Talwandi (Damdama Sahib) in order to incorporate the Baani of Guru Tegh Bhaadur Sahib Ji ( 59 Shabads & 57 Saloks in 15 Raags ) without disturbing the order set by Guru Arjan Sahib Ji.
The Adi Granth was brought (Parkash) to the Darbar Sahib, Amritsar with great honour. Baba Budha Ji carried the Adi Granth on his head while Guru Sahib Ji himself carried the Chaur Sahib & walked barefoot from Ramsar to Sri Harmandir Sahib reciting Kirtan all the way. Baba Budha Ji, one of the most respected Sikhs of Guru Nanak Sahib’s time, was appointed as the First Head Granthi to read out the First Hukamnama,
